.Choosing the Right Sunglasses for Your Face Shape.
Buying shades is not essential during the summer season only, it’s a must have all year round. Even though scientists say that sunglasses are unnecessary because the sunlight can’t really damage the eyes, it’s still important to make sure you protect yourself from the harmful rays of the sun. Same as the principle of buying sunblock creams and hats to protect our skin from the rays of the sun, it’s equally essential to have sunglasses to protect your eyes.
We have to admit, most of us purchase shades because it flatters our face and it accentuates our fashion trends. So, even if you’re the type of person that’s NOT into the fashion side of wearing sunglasses, it’s important that you know what shape of glasses would complement the profile of your face. Who wouldn’t want to look good when wearing sunglasses right? Let me give you a few tips.
Round Face
With a round face, it is important to add some contrast to your face shape. You must make it look a bit longer, if possible. You can wear rectangular and square sunglasses and wayfarer shades. Sunglass frames which are wide or thick are also known to
broaden up your face profile a bit.
broaden up your face profile a bit.
Square Face
If you have a square face, your objective should be to soften up the angles of your face a bit. The best trick in reducing strong curves is by wearing sunglasses which are oval or round in shape. You can also try wearing cat eye sunglasses or aviators. These also give contrast to the angles of your face. Some sunglasses with thinner frames are suitable in flattering a square face shape, although trying different levels of thickness would help you identify which ones work best for your features.
Oblong Face
With an oblong face shape, you need to buy glasses that make your face look a bit wider than it normally is. The best thing about this face shape, almost any shape of sunglasses can work. Square, cat eyes, rounded with flat top, rectangular, wrap around and even aviators can look good for this face shape
Oval Face
Same as the oblong face shape, almost any type of sunglasses can flatter an oval face. You can pretty much experiment with whatever pair of sunglasses you want. Oversized glasses can also be a plus.
Heart Face
If your face is heart shaped, you would want to soften up the angles of jaw line and your chin by emphasizing the eye area. Oversized oval shaped sunglasses and glasses whose frames are flat on the top (like wayfarer) are known to work the best with this face shape.
Some general important things to note are:
* don't try on shades which are of the same shape as your face (you'll just waste time and energy). Always go for something that would contrast your face shape.
* avoid oversized sunglasses if you have a small face.
* avoid buying over-the-top designed glasses if you don't really wear over-the-top wardrobe.
Knowing what to look for when choosing sunglasses makes finding that perfect one easier.
For every face shape, there’s more than one suitable sunglass shape out there. Experiment with all the shapes that may flatter your face.
All sunglasses regardless of brand and style can protect your eyes (duh!), so the next question you ask when buying one is: Does this one look good on me?
Here in the Philippines, you can find cheap sunglasses almost anywhere; side streets, wet and dry markets, malls and even online. The best part of it is you can purchase them from P40-P300, depending on where you buy them.
The best places you can scour for great cheap sunglasses are Baclaran, Divisoria, Tutuban Mall, your local wet and dry market, ALL Department stores (regardless of which mall) and sunglass stalls inside some malls.
But if you want vast options of glasses with really cheap prices of P50 to P75 only, you have to go to Quiapo. It is probably the best place I have ever bought cheap glasses from (followed by i2i). The last time I was there I bought 5 different sunglasses for P50 each. That’s P250 for 5pcs, that’s basically one item if you buy from the malls. Its shelf life lasted more than what I expected for a P50 item. Too bad I already lost most of them. Let me show you some pictures of the sunglasses I was able to buy from Quiapo. Pls pardon my face..haha!
There you go! I hope these tips and information have helped you in some way.
